The JVAN 18:1 Gearset is a high-precision internal drivetrain manufactured by JVAN, utilizing over 20 years of expertise in CNC machining. This original series is designed to replace standard cast gears with high-strength steel components that provide a reliable balance between speed and durability for standard AEG builds. The sector gear features a relocated tappet plate pin to delay release time, improving performance and feeding reliability at higher speeds. Each gear undergoes a meticulous six-stage manufacturing process—including CNC turning, hobbing, milling, and heat treatment—to ensure smooth meshing and reduced operational noise. Here at Northmark Vault, we’ve tried MANY different brands of gearsets and have found JVAN gearsets to have exceptional tolerances, consistent QC, and come out of the box with most of the modifications that we would perform with many cheap Chinese gearsets. Due to this, it saves the end user time, and often money since you already know what tolerances to expect.

Technical Specifications:

  • Material Construction: Sector and spur gears are CNC-machined from 40Cr steel; the bevel gear features a CNC-machined center shaft with a high-durability MIM (Metal Injection Molding) plate.
  • Drive Ratio: Standard 18:1 ratio, optimized for a balance of torque and rate of fire in Version 2 and Version 3 gearboxes.
  • Rockwell Hardness: Gears are heat-treated to HRC 42–50, while the critical center pins are hardened to HRC 55–60 to prevent deformation under high-stress loads.
  • Refined Geometry: Features optimized tooth shapes and 15° chamfering to reduce friction and minimize mechanical "swing" during high-speed rotation.
  • Sector Gear Design: Full-stroke 16-tooth configuration with a redesigned tappet plate pin position for delayed nozzle release and better feeding.
  • Surface Treatment: Finished with a professional polishing and blackening process that ensures a low-friction surface without increasing the physical thickness of the gear teeth.
  • Durable Bevel Shaft: The bevel gear shaft uses a customized tooth shape with a thicker tooth width for enhanced torque resistance against the motor pinion.
  • Mass Reduction: The updated sector gear includes through-holes to reduce rotating mass while maintaining structural integrity.
